Little Update

Fri Sep 3, 2004, 3:15 PM
Having nothing to do right now I thought that I could as well write a new journal entry concerning what I was and am up to.

The most obvious step towards a new part of my love is that I will move at the 24th of September from Lübeck to Mannheim, the town where I am going to study National Economics from now on. The University of Mannheim is the best and most respected university for economics in the whole of germany so I am really looking forward to starting there.

During the last days I mainly read books , I started the Hitler Biography by Joachim Fest and are working myself through a history of germany from 1945 on, with an emphasis on the communist threat from the soviet occupied zone (the Democratic Republic of Germany).

Then there are my duties as the chairman of the youth organisation of my political party, so I have to make some random phone calls or talk to some people sometimes, nothing really spectacular. Today we went to a barbeque of this organisation, quite funny to get to know some more ppl from around the county.

And then there is my family which, because I will not be here for quite some time when I moved, occupies me a lot, visiting everyone can be quite stressfull.

Nothing much going on here at the moment. I'm now back at the 6th form of my school doing my A levels. It's terrible. We go and sit down, and if there are no tables left, year 13 annex ours claiming the tables to be 'reserved for year 13'.

They're ALL reserved fro year 13 (I'm year 12)

The Coffee machine NEVER works. And when it does work someone breaks it.

there is nothing to do in free periods. Its like.. "hmm...." *twiddles thumbs*

Still at least I'm getting an education.

From year 11 on we were allowed to use a seperate room - with some computers only we could use, with a coffee machine as well, chess, cards, other games, books, lexika. It was quite nice. :)

But I am really looking forward to university, new people and new challenges.

We have a 6th form lounge. It contains a non functioning coffee machine, A water cooler, a sink and a stereo (Guess who the stereo is reserved for). As far as computers go, we can go on up to the school library and comandeer the computers there without the need to reserve them. Now all I need is to find out when teachers have booked them for thier classes use.... >:). I hope uni goes well for you. I'm sure you'll do fine with the people.

The classes won't start imediately, I will have some time to get to know Mannheim and then some mathematics pre-courses. Luckily I only have to walk 5 mins to the uni buildings and 3 mins to the cafeteria. ;)

Just do yourself a little favor and take a class each semester just for the pleasure of it. It will help keep you motivated and keep the joy in learning :)

If I have the time, I will. But for me economics and mathematics is pleasure. :D
